The Spark Story

We're locally-owned and passionate about helping kids in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County achieve their school goals. At Spark Tutors, we think every child benefits from individual tutoring. One-size-fits-all classroom instruction leaves most children either bored or lost at some point. It's simple: any child will learn more and achieve more with a tutor. And the investment pays off in your child's long-term confidence and success.

We choose our tutors very carefully. They may be Ivy Leaguers or the top math and science students from Cal Poly and UCSB. Our tutors are great role models for kids. We're sure you'll be pleased: word-of-mouth referrals keep us busy.

Spark's Director, Jessie Brumfiel, holds a B.A. in English and Political Science from Stanford University. Jessie went to Santa Barbara High School. She taught English in Eastern Europe, co-founded a PR firm in San Francisco, and is mom to two school-age boys. She tutors reading and writing.
