Lola received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. She tutored and taught engineering classes throughout her college career and had been working as a math and science teacher at a local high school before starting Spark Tutors.
In her free time, Lola loves to hike with her puppy, Loki, snowboard, and sail. She is also a botanist in training, with over one-hundred house plants!

Yali - Math
Yali received her Bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from San Diego State University. She was a college math tutor and it inspired her to become a high school math teacher. Since graduating, she has worked as a high school math teacher in San Diego.
In her free time Yali enjoys going on hikes, visiting new places and hanging out with her dogs!

Kelsey - Biology & Math
Kelsey received her Bachelor's degree in Human Biology from UC San Diego. Since graduating, she has worked as a substitute teacher and science tutor in both Los Angeles and San Diego.

In her free time Kelsey enjoys dancing (she was a member of the UC San Diego Dance Team) and hanging out with her dog!

Jordan has a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics from San Diego State University and worked as a tutor and supplemental instructor for most of his time at SDSU. He has been tutoring students for the last 10 years and is currently a math teacher at a local high school.
During his free time Jordan likes to ski, play just about any game you can imagine, and tries to get to the beach as often as possible.

Hannah has a B.S. in Data Analytics and Psychology from Arizona State University. She loves working with kids and students, and has tutored from elementary to college age! She is currently working on her Master’s of Clinical Psychology at Point Loma Nazarene University.
For fun, Hannah likes to read books, practice yoga, and go to farmer’s markets.

DK - Math
DK received his Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. After college, he spent two years working in a cardiothoracic research lab at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He is now a student at University of Pittsburgh earning his Master's of Bioengineering in Medical Product Engineering. DK has many years of experience tutoring students in math and science.

During his free time, DK likes to dance, learn languages, and go to short film festivals.

Maggie - English
Maggie earned her Bachelor’s degree in writing from Point Loma Nazarene University. She was homeschooled through elementary school so she really enjoys learning in creative ways outside the traditional classroom. She has worked extensively with children across multiple fields including swimming, ministry, and teaching English.
When not working, Maggie reads a book a day, watches anime, and works on her aerial silks skills.

Mariana - Spanish
Mariana graduated Magna Cum Laude from SDSU with a Double Major in Spanish with a certificate in Translation and Interpretation and Psychology as well as a minor in Statistics. While at SDSU she tutored Spanish at the University and she also tutored students 5th -12th in multiple subjects at an after school tutoring center for underprivileged students.
In her free time Mariana enjoys cooking, attending concerts and being outdoors. While hiking/camping she developed an interest in Geology and is the 2021 Secretary at the San Diego Association of Geologists where she has been a member since 2012.

Ethan - Math
Ethan entered the education field while serving with the AmeriCorps program City Year. This experience ignited a passion for helping all students achieve greatness and enjoy mathematics. He has earned a Bachelor of Music from Temple University and a M.Ed. degree in Secondary Education and Mathematics from Drexel University as part of the Philadelphia Teacher Residency program. Over the past decade he has taught students at every grade level from late elementary to high school and really enjoys engaging students with any kind of puzzle he can find.
Ethan is also a performing musician, loves to go camping, and is an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan!

Joanna received a Bachelor in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stony Brook University, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Mathematics. While she was a student at Stony Brook she taught "Foundations to Precalculus" and tutored at the Mathematics Learning Center. Joanna also holds the NYSED certification for Mathematics Adolescent Education (7th-12th grade).

In her free time, Joanna loves to surf, practice yoga, hike, and rock climb! Joanna's favorite place is Malibu, California.

Ryota received a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering as well as a minor in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis. As a student at WashU he was a teaching assistant for Anatomy and Physiology, which sparked his love for teaching.
In his free time, Ryota enjoys playing basketball with friends, kickboxing, and cooking new recipes.

Shannon received her Bachelor of Science in Biostatistics from Emmanuel College in Boston. After graduating, she was a math teacher at Fusion Academy for five years, before going back to school and getting a Master’s in Statistics from SDSU.
In her free time, Shannon loves being outdoors. She enjoys camping, hiking, biking, or simply reading a good book on the beach.
